Be sure to check out www.hoteltybee.com for the results of this effort so far!

As part of Tybee Island's 120th Birthday Celebration Ocean Plaza is conducting a research project on both Hotels Tybee (1884-1909) and (1911-1960) built by the Central Georgia Railroad which previously stood on the real estate tract where Ocean Plaza is currently located.  The first Hotel Tybee burned down circa 1909.  The second legendary Hotel Tybee opened in 1911, and most of it was torn down in 1960.  Please see the attached photo of the second Hotel Tybee which was taken circa the 1930's.

The results of this research project will be used to create a unique web site featuring information on the second Hotel Tybee as if it existed today.  Present and future generations will be able to enjoy this fun and interactive web site.

Anyone with good quality original photos of the interior and/or exterior of either of the Hotels Tybee or any other type of promotional material is requested to contact Jeannie at (912) 398-1400 or by email at Jeannie@oceanplaza.com.  We do not want to keep these photos.  We just want to scan them into a computer and then return the photos to their owner.  Ocean Plaza is willing to pay $75 for each scanned photo or item of promotional material which is selected to appear in the website.  Please ask your friends and family members to check their old photo albums and archives for material we can use.  We thank you for your time.
