Lynn Frances, the owner of Turtle Dragon Tranquilitea, featured the 1970's during the Celebrate Tybee weekend.  We are still seeking photos from that decade to add to our displays and slide show .  Please email us your photos, bring them to the shop for scanning, or let us know if you have photos we can borrow (and safely return).  The photos don't have to be from Tybee, but we would LOVE to have Tybee photos from that era.  After all, most of us who live here now weren't lucky enough to grow up here.  Thank you so much!

The Tybee Historical Society sponsored a couple of "oral history" events - one in Memorial Park had a long-time Tybee resident storyteller recounting tales from Tybee's past. Another, at the Guard House on Van Horne, is a project to obtain stories from Tybee's past to put them on video and audio tape.

Down at South Beach, forever young surfers spoke together about surfing history on the Island at the Surfrider Foundation  tent, hosted by Underground Boardworks.

At the Old School Cafeteria, just south of Memorial Park, the pictures below, your contributions to Pixels.SavannahNow.com and any other historical material we could lay hands on were displayed in a continuously running slide show all during the festivities. If you'd like a copy of the pictures as a DVD or CD slideshow, drop us a line and we'll let you know how to obtain a copy - we'll check out demand before we dedicate to much effort to pressing copies!
